The government’s decision bulldozed local democracy and has risked locking Britain into an old-fashioned dirty energy infrastructure when we should be seizing the opportunities for new long-term jobs and investment in a clean energy future. It should be up to local communities to decide, through their locally democratic planning systems, whether or not to host fracking operations in their areas. This proves that Devolution is needed in all areas of the UK.
