VE DAY.
‘I'm glad we fought fascism, I only wish we’d won!!’
(Quoting My ‘Old brigade’ Song)
Stanley Spencer’s ‘Resurrection’ painting Makes me think Of VE day, memories of those we've lost…A reunion with those we lost.
Our veterans fought fascism.
So What are the BNP, UKIP and EDL commemorating when they march with union jacks on Remembrance Sunday?
Is it the sacrifice the beaten fascists made, so that modern fascists would be free to march in public?
The contradiction of Fascists marching to honour those that fought against fascism !!
Or are they (these Nazis, Farage and co) marching against any more wars against other Nazis...
The current government’s approach is not about remembering, but about forgetting...
Reform talk about remembering death at the same time that children are dying.
Remembrance should be a call for ending war.
What we want to see is a Remembrance that remembers all victims of war, whether military or civilian and of all nationalities — seeing the real horrors of war, and not used as an excuse for nationalism.
