Chiles elected popular unity government president Allende’s overthrow by CIA. ‘Anniversary’

I recall thinking when Corbyn was Labour Party leader and doing well that we would have to be vigilant so that some kind of 'coup didn't take place if we won the election with Corbyn, the kind of powers that sabotaged the economy who brought down the Allende government in Chile and Gough Whitlam in Australia and the ejected government in Grenada.

There would have been those out to sabotage, maybe military involvement-the Rothmere/Murdoch press-tar and feathering-the rich corporations were not going to just sit back and let achieve our goals and implement our manifesto without a fight after we‘d won our democratic election.

The words thwart-scupper-cripple-undermine-disable-weaken came to mind. I wasn’t being pessimistic -but trying to be unsentimental-faithful but hard-nosed.

Well, that coup happened-but it happened before we ever got the chance of defeating the Tories-it happened partly from within the Labour Party itself.

Right-wing think tanks run this government.
